Description: When connecting locally to your Plex server, on the same LAN you receive a notification you’re connected to Plex indirectly. I was able to access Plex locally via the https://localIP:3200 without issues and it stated I was secure. When I went to Plex.tv it showed I was connected indirectly.

The port forwarding was properly configured and confirmed with an online portchecker.

Solution

1. I was using PFSense firewall. I navigated to Services / DNS Resolver
2. Scroll down to “Custom options”
3. Add the below and save

private-domain: "plex.direct"
